πŸ₯„ It’s an easy, satisfying meal perfect for quick weeknight dinners or casual gatherings.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients

– 1 tablespoon butter

– 1 teaspoon olive oil

– 1 pound ground beef

– 1/3 green bell pepper, minced

– 1/2 large yellow onion, minced

– 3 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 tablespoon tomato paste

– 2/3 cup ketchup

– 1/3 cup water

– 1 tablespoon brown sugar (or less to taste)

– 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

– 3/4 teaspoon chili powder

– 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

– 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

– 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

– Dash of hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

1-First, heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat.

2-Next, add the ground beef and brown it, breaking it into crumbles, for about 5 minutes. Be sure to drain any excess liquid to keep the mixture from getting too watery.

3-Then, add the onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until they soften up.

4-After that, stir in the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until it smells fragrant.

5-Return the beef to the skillet and mix in the tomato paste, then add the ketchup, water, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, red pepper flakes (if using), black pepper, and hot sauce (if using). Stir everything well and cook over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes until the mixture thickens.

6-Finally, serve the sloppy joes over toasted buns for a warm, hearty meal that’s ready in no time.
