  • Yield: 12 donuts 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups sifted flour ensures light, airy crumb

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

ΒΎ cup buttermilk creates tender texture and slight tang

ΒΎ cup sugar

2 large eggs, lightly beaten

2 tablespoons melted butter

2 teaspoons vanilla extract provides signature flavor

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons milk

Gel food coloring (optional)

Sprinkles

White chocolate or chocolate chips

Instructions

1-Preheat the oven to 350ΒΊF. Grease each well of the donut pans with cooking spray.

2-In a bowl, whisk together 2 cups sifted flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt.

3-In a separate mixer bowl, combine ΒΎ cup buttermilk, ΒΎ cup sugar, 2 large eggs (lightly beaten), 2 tablespoons melted butter, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract; beat until blended.

4-Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined to avoid overbeating.

5-Transfer the batter to a piping bag and fill each donut cavity about two-thirds full.

6-Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the tops spring back when touched and a cake tester inserted comes out clean or with a few crumbs. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 to 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely before adding frosting.

7-Whisk together 2 cups powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

8-If using, add gel food coloring at this stage for vibrant hues.

9-Gradually add 2 tablespoons milk, a few drops at a time, until the icing is thick but runny enough to pipe.

10-Fill a piping bag, cut the tip, and pipe the icing onto the cooled donuts.

11-Add sprinkles immediately before the icing sets.
