  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

– 500g (1 lb) large raw, peeled, and deveined shrimp or prawns the fresh base that grills up crispy and full of flavor

– 1 tsp garlic powder adds a subtle, aromatic punch to enhance the prawns

– 1 tsp smoked paprika brings in that smoky depth for a BBQ vibe

– 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper provides a gentle heat to spice things up

– 1 tbsp lemon juice (omit this if cooking on the stove) brightens the mix with a zesty kick

– 2 tbsp olive oil helps coat and crisp the prawns during grilling

– 1/2 tsp salt seasons to perfection

– 1/4 tsp pepper adds a touch of warmth to balance the flavors

– 90g (6 tbsp) unsalted butter melted as the rich base for the sauce

– 3 tsp very finely chopped garlic cooks to a golden brown for that irresistible aroma

– 1/4 tsp salt enhances the garlic’s natural taste

– 1.5 tbsp lemon juice stirred in at the end for a fresh, tangy finish

– 2 tbsp finely chopped parsley used as garnish to add color and freshness

– Fresh lemon wedges or grilled lemon halves for serving and extra zing

– Crusty bread recommended to mop up the flavorful sauce, though not quantified as it’s to taste

Instructions

1-Rinse and pat dry the prawns to remove any excess moisture, which helps them grill without sticking.

2-In a bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, then coat the prawns thoroughly.

3-Preheat your oiled BBQ grill on high until it’s very hot, or use a grill pan on the stove for a similar effect.

4-Skewer the prawns if they’re small to prevent them from falling through the grates, then grill for 2 minutes per side until they’re golden and crusty.

5-Meanwhile, make the lemon garlic butter by melting 90g unsalted butter with 3 tsp finely chopped garlic and 1/4 tsp salt in a saucepan over medium-high heat until the garlic is light golden, then stir in 1.5 tbsp lemon juice.

6-Remove the prawns from the heat right away and drizzle with the sauce, garnishing with 2 tbsp chopped parsley.

7-Serve immediately with lemon wedges and crusty bread to enjoy the full experience.
