  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 whole Camembert cheese (250g) for a rich, creamy base with a distinct flavor

2 tbsp olive oil for enhancing texture and aiding in roasting

100g mixed nuts (walnuts, pecans) for adding crunch and depth of flavor

1 tbsp honey or maple syrup for balancing savory notes with subtle sweetness

Fresh thyme sprigs (5 grams) for infusing aromatic herbal flavor

A handful of mushrooms for frying to golden perfection

Butter for cooking the mushrooms until golden

1 tablespoon chopped tarragon for adding fresh herbal notes

Truffle oil for providing a rich, earthy finish

2 tablespoons olive oil for heating and cooking

2 tablespoons pine nuts for crunch

1 sliced garlic clove for adding a savory garlic flavor

1 tablespoon chopped rosemary for bringing in aromatic herbs

Chopped flat-leaf parsley for scattering on top for freshness

100 grams frozen cranberries for creating a jammy texture

2 tablespoons caster sugar for helping dissolve and sweeten the mix

A splash of port for adding depth and flavor to the cranberries

Fresh thyme leaves for stirring in for herbal taste

A handful of pecan halves for heating for a glazed effect

3 tablespoons maple syrup for melting to coat the pecans

1 tablespoon soft brown sugar for adding sweetness and glaze

Instructions

1-To bake camembert, preheat the oven to 190°C (fan 170°C/gas mark 5). Remove the lid and wrapping from the camembert, place the cheese back in its container base, then set the base inside the inverted lid and place on a baking tray. Cut a few slits on top of the camembert and bake for 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and creamy. This method ensures the camembert turns out soft and ready for toppings.

2-Once baked, you can add your chosen toppings right away to let flavors blend. For instance, the mushroom topping involves frying a handful of mushrooms in butter until golden, then stirring in 1 tablespoon of chopped tarragon and drizzling with truffle oil, which takes about 10 minutes.

3-Similarly, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and cook 2 tablespoons pine nuts until lightly golden, add 1 sliced garlic clove and cook for 1 minute, stir in 1 tablespoon chopped rosemary for another minute, and scatter chopped flat-leaf parsley on top.

4-For the cranberry option, heat 100 grams frozen cranberries with 2 tablespoons caster sugar and a splash of port until the sugar dissolves, simmer until jammy, and stir in fresh thyme leaves, ready in about 15 minutes.

5-The maple pecans come together by heating a handful of pecan halves with 3 tablespoons maple syrup and 1 tablespoon soft brown sugar until glazed, taking around 10 minutes.

6-First Step: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and prepare a baking tray by lining it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

7-Second Step: Remove the camembert from its packaging and place it back into the wooden box or on a small ovenproof dish, scoring a shallow ‘X’ on the top rind to help infuse flavors.

8-Third Step: Drizzle olive oil evenly over the camembert and scatter mixed nuts atop to add texture and enhance taste.

9-Fourth Step: Spoon honey or maple syrup over the surface, then sprinkle fresh thyme leaves for aroma.

10-Fifth Step: Bake for 15 20 minutes, or until the cheese is soft and gooey, ensuring the nuts are toasted but not burnt.

11-Final Step: Serve immediately with gluten-free crackers or fresh bread, adjusting accompaniments for dietary preferences such as vegan or low-calorie options.
