๐Ÿง€ Experience the rich flavors from cheese and marinara sauce that make every bite unforgettable.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 25 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

– 2 cups whole milk

– 2 cups low sodium chicken broth

– 1/4 cup unsalted butter

– 1 teaspoon kosher salt

– 1 3/4 cups fine semolina flour

– 2 egg yolks

– 1/2 cup freshly grated Pecorino Romano cheese

– 5 basil leaves, chopped (optional)

– 1 cup Parmesan cheese for mixing

– 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese for topping

– About 2 cups marinara sauce for the baking dish

Instructions

1-First, prepare all necessary ingredients by measuring out the semolina, milk, grated cheese, butter, egg yolks, and salt for a smooth workflow.

2-In a saucepan, heat the milk with a pinch of salt until just simmering, then gradually whisk in the semolina to avoid lumps.

3-Continue stirring over low heat until the mixture thickens, about 7-10 minutes, forming a dense dough that will become the base of your gnocchi.

4-Remove from heat and stir in the butter, grated Parmesan, and egg yolks quickly to combine for a creamy consistency.

5-Spread the dough evenly onto a buttered baking tray and let it cool and set for about 30 minutes.

6-Once set, cut the dough into round discs using a cookie cutter or glass, then layer them in a buttered baking dish with marinara sauce at the bottom for added flavor.

7-Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and arrange the discs overlapping slightly in the dish.

8-Dot with the remaining butter, sprinkle with chopped basil, Parmesan, and Pecorino cheeses on top, then bake for 20 minutes until the cheese melts and browns slightly.

9-Broil on high for 5 minutes to get that golden, crispy finish, and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
