12 fresh jalapeños

6 ounces of softened cream cheese

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

4 ounces of shredded sharp cheddar cheese

2 tablespoons of chopped fresh chives (optional)

¼ cup Panko bread crumbs

1 tablespoon of melted butter

6 ounces cream cheese

Vegan cream cheese for plant-based diets

¼ cup Panko bread crumbs

Gluten-free bread crumbs for gluten-sensitive eaters

Instructions

1-Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

2-Wash and halve 12 fresh jalapeños lengthwise, then remove the seeds and membranes to adjust the heat level.

3-In a bowl, mix 6 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 4 ounces of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and optionally 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh chives until smooth.

4-Stuff each jalapeño half generously with the cheese mixture.

5-Combine ¼ cup Panko bread crumbs with 1 tablespoon of melted butter, then sprinkle this over the stuffed jalapeños for a crunchy top.

6-Bake for 18-22 minutes until the poppers are golden and bubbly, then let them cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
