๐ŸŒฝ Enjoy soft, moist sweet cornbread bursting with flavor that’s perfect for family dinners and gatherings.
๐Ÿž This easy recipe combines cornmeal and flour for a tender texture that stays fresh longer and satisfies every bite.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

– 1 1/3 cup flour

– 2/3 cup yellow cornmeal

– 2/3 cup sugar

– 1 tablespoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for the pan if making skillet cornbread)

– 1 1/4 cup milk

– 1/4 cup oil

– 2 large eggs

Instructions

1-Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This ensures your oven is at the right temperature when you’re ready to bake.

2-Prepare your pan by misting a 9×13-inch pan with nonstick spray and lining it with parchment paper. This prevents sticking and makes removing the cornbread easier later.

3-For skillet cornbread: Add about 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter to the pan and preheat it in the oven. This creates a crispy bottom crust that’s absolutely delicious!

4-In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together until they’re evenly distributed.

5-In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, oil, and eggs. Ensure these wet ingredients are well combined.

6-Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix – a few lumps are perfectly fine and actually desirable!

7-Transfer the batter to the prepared pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

8-Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. The exact time will depend on your oven and the type of pan you’re using. The cornbread is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

9-Remove from the oven and allow the cornbread to cool for 20 minutes before slicing and serving. This cooling time helps it set properly and makes slicing cleaner.

Notes

๐ŸŒŸ Use medium-ground yellow cornmeal for the best texture and color.
๐ŸŒพ Mixing cornmeal with flour creates lighter, moister cornbread and prevents dryness.
๐Ÿฅ› Substitute plant-based butters and milks to make dairy-free versions.
